Speaker: Dr Augustinus Laude, Ophthalmologist
Dr Augustinus Laude is Senior Consultant at the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute, Tan Tock Seng Hospital with clinical and research interest in medical retina diseases, cataract surgery, low vision and medical technology. He has completed a 2-year fellowship in the field of age-related macular degeneration and ocular imaging at the Princess Alexandra Eye Hospital, NHS Lothian, Edinburgh, UK. He has published on a range of eye and vision-related topics in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, and has also been invited regionally and internationally to speak and conduct instruction courses. He is active in medical education and has been invited to be clinical examiner for the National University of Singapore, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Universiti Sains Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Malaysia. He is dually appointed adjunct associate professor at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and School of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University and is Visiting Consultant at National University Hospital, Singapore. He is actively involved in clinical trials (including EVEREST, HARRIER, KITE, RHINE and LUCERNE) as well as entrepreneurial activities in collaboration with engineering colleagues in the field of image processing and eye-gaze tracking.
