The annual Chinese New Year Cultural Night at UCLA is the largest cultural event organized and hosted by CSSA-UCLA. Held in UCLA's iconic Royce Hall, the Chinese New Year Cultural Nights attracts over 2,000 students, alumni, and members of the Los Angeles Chinese Community, and has grown to become one of the most prominent student-organized Chinese New Year celebration in the Los Angeles area. Chinese New Year (also known as Lunar New Year or Spring Festival) is commonly considered to be the most important Chinese holiday. 2019 is the Year of the Pig, or Ji Hai (己亥年). The event consists of a variety of performances, ranging from traditional orchestral to a ******** to other creative performances. The 2019 Cultural Night will comprise of more than 10 distinct performances, with the aim to create a festive atmosphere that is reminiscent of home for local Chinese people and to spread the Chinese culture. As the past year comes to an end, let us embrace our close ones, reflect on the old things, and look forward to the new beginnings—together, let us welcome the Chinese New Year!
